"Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower"

Following your artistic passion is extremely admirable to me. The industry has always been tough to get into due to the competitiveness. In this day and age, high living costs have decreased the amount of people pursuing art which is a shame. I personally know many people who have stopped studying art because of the low probability of landing a high paying job to pay off their loans after graduation. Even going to an art institute requires substantial funds. I know for a fact RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) typically awards little to no financial aid. I find this extremely sad because I believe everyone should be able to make a living by doing what you are passionate about. This is why I celebrate aspiring artists.

Mr. Tynan Byrne is from Brooksville (REPRESENT) and just finished his first year of college. Being extremely involved in music during high school, he originally studied music. However, he realized his true passion is photography. He applied to various art schools and recently was accepted to the Art Institute of Boston for photography.
A Picture of Tynan

It all started when he was very young, shooting wildlife like bugs, dragonflies, etc. Then, for his 8th or 9th birthday, he received a 35mm camera as a gift.  Photography developed into one of his favorite hobbies. When he entered high school at George Stevens Academy he was able to take photography classes. He took two courses, one which focused on manual photography and one focusing on digital. Digital photography became his favorite because of the great effects you can do.

"Often, I am not phased by sunset pictures because anybody can take a picture of a sunset, and I feel as though I've seen them all. But this particular one I had to put up. I was amazed by all of the definite colors."

Tynan is interested in starting his own business however there are a lot of expenses as far as equipment is concerned. He has done a few personal and group photo shoots. His dream job is to be a name brand photographer for a company like Urban Outfitters.

When I asked him if growing up in the Blue Hill area has influenced him to pursue his interest in photography he responded:
You have no idea. I LOVE including Maine essences in my pictures. Sometimes it's a rustic look but most of the time it's the scenery. People always talk about how fantastic the Maine woods are and how incredible of a place they are and it's so true. I really, really appreciate that so I like to incorporate as much of it as I can with placement.

If you look through his photo shoot gallery on his facebook page, you will see a lot of them are in the mysterious woods of the Blue Hill Peninsula. He is extremely excited for his city relocation:
I think it’ll be an awesome change of scenery and it will help me expand my creative interests and ideas for shoots.

I am very excited to follow Tynan’s shoots throughout the summer. I highly suggest you look through his albums. Follow this link to his facebook page: TJB Photography and like it for updates. Personally, I have been on the page all weekend looking at the George Stevens Academy prom pictures he shot last weekend.

If you are interested in having your very own photo shoot here in Maine or in Boston, do not hesitate to contact him via email or facebook or email: byneboy92@gmail.com
