Today was the first time the sun has come out in a week.
All week I've been hearing: "make sure you do the sun dance." But after some research, I have found the actual Sun Dance performed by Native Americans is not believed to bring sun. It is actually a ritual which is a prayer for life, world renewal and thanksgiving. It is said that if a tribe does not perform the sun dance every year, the earth will not be able to regenerate. This is usually performed by great plain tribes.

The comments underneath the video are priceless.
Today I watched this movie, Return of a Man Called Horse, which is about a British man who goes back to the west only to find a tribe he befriended, the Yellow Hands, enslaved by Americans. Anyway, the British man actually takes part in this ritual. I am not gonna lie, I was flinching during the sun dance scene -- it looked extremely painful.
