Bug Dope

A few evenings ago I was hanging out outside on my friends deck. Since the rain has finally stopped, the blackflies have come out. My friend used a quarter bottle of bug dope on me, I tied my hood tight to my head, wore pants and still managed to wake up with an incredible amount of bug bites on my back and legs. The itching is so annoying. My co-workers have been calling me out to stop every time they catch me – but it’s so hard!

All of my co-workers garden and they said the only thing that truly repels blackflies are deet, which is terrible for you, and this clip on product made by Off truly works. Apparently they just clipped it to their back pocket and did not have any trouble with blackflies. The product has a motor inside which runs a fan behind a bug repellent disk. Amazingly enough the fumes (if you will) offset by the fan are not scented so the only thing you notice is not getting attacked by bugs. Every so often you have to replace the disk but it is easy, just pop it open with a button and replace. You only need two AA batteries. You can find this at any sort of lawn care section in a huge department store such as Lowes or Home Depot. They are around $8 each with a couple refills included.
